New Etsy Shop!

Hi! Not sure if this is going to work, but I have an etsy shop now. I've got earrings, necklaces, and stitch markers that I beaded myself. I hope this store gets going soon, but if it doesn't, it is still fun to have, and to make items to include.

March Charity Items

Hi! It's almost March, and that means that it is almost time for the March maddness squares, where we will be making lots of squares to be made into afghans for Warm Up America and Project Linus. Also, we are doing a couple themed afghans. So far, we have had people sign up for 3 different afghans to be made with squares that have a state in them, so that each afghan will have squares from all 50 states in it. So far, we are working on 2 knit ones, and 1 crochet one. Kayleen and I are talking about having themes throughout the year for afghans, but we will see how this one goes first.

New Charity!

Hi Everyone! A friend of mine and I have started a new charity, called "From the Heart of Texas" and we will be featuring a different charity each month to create items to donate. This month, we are helping a local homeless shelter, Star of Hope, by making scarves, hats, mittens, blankets, anything that will keep people warm. We are always welcoming new members! Although we are local to Houston, TX, anyone can join. If you are local, or not, you are free to help us with the charity we've chosen, or pick your own from a long list of worthy causes that we have posted in the links section. I will be posting here the items that I will donate there, and to other worthy causes. I just hope I have not put too much on my plate this start of the year.

Recent projects with pictures...

Hi! I just wanted to post some pictures of my recently finished items... I haven't been here in a while, so some of these were finished as much as 3 weeks ago, so there you go. These first, are two blankets that I donated to Project Rest Assured. This group makes blankets for kids who are in foster care, and it's really a great group! I love to look at the pictures on that website, and get inspired to make blankets. Since it's winter, they have started taking scarves, gloves, hats, etc. to keep the kids warm.

About me

Hi! I just thought I'd do a quick introduction. I got married in August 2004, and worked as a teacher for the deaf and hard of hearing elementary kids for nearly 2 years. Now I'm a stay at home Mom after having my son on April 13, 2006, weighing in at 12 lbs. 10 oz., and 8 days early. Both the men in my life keep me busy, but in my free time I LOVE to crochet! I'll be posting some of my projects on here for you to see. I guess that's about it for now!

My first blog!

Hi! Wow! It feels great to get this blog started. I've seen lots of other blogs out there, and think they're great! I can't wait to really get this thing going!
